Short interview with Rick Schwartz – His start with domain names
You already know how I got started buying domain names when I was 14. Now you can learn how some of our industry’s major players got their start in the world of domain names, starting out with Rick Schwartz.
JF: How did you discover the domain name industry?
RS: Via 800 Vanity Numbers as my prior buisness that still is running and earning income today.
JF: What was the first domain name you purchased as an investment?
JF: What was the first domain name you sold, and for how much?
RS: eScore to Kaplan Educational in New York for $100k on a $100 domain name I purchased 3 years earlier
JF: How have you become so well known in the industry?
RS: By sharing my knowledge and calling out bad actors since the day I got online.
JF: Has this helped you succeed?
RS: Yes and no. It cuts both ways.
A big thank you to Rick for taking the time to answer my questions.
It’s always interesting to see how people find the domain name industry. I found it because of a game and Rick found it because of an existing business. You can see which of those is working out :-)
Coming up in the next couple of days are interviews with Ron Jackson of DNJournal.com and Andrew Allemann of DomainNameWire.com.
